Default Blue Green Algae Poisoning

Hey All,

Sean shared an email that he received from Yankee's breeder. A 5 month old pup out of her last Miikka litter died last week from Blue Green Algae poisoning. Another owners pup had died a week earlier after swimming in the same pond.
Attached is an article from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Please Read.

Dave

Default Local Blue Green Algae Sightings

Reports locally about Blue Green Algae. Grand Lake St. Mary's has confirmed that both animals and humans have become sick after coming in contact with this algae. CHECK THE WATER THAT YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR DOGS IN. IT CAN TRANSFER TO HUMANS WHO COME IN CONTACT WITH DOGS WITH THE ALGAE ON THEM. A GOOGLE SEARCH WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ALGAE.

We received an email for our Veterinarians from our local health department about Blue Green Algae. They are making Veterinarians aware that they could be seeing cases and to know the symptoms. The pond here at the farm and our neighbors pond now has Blue Green Algae. Was mowing last week and the pond was clear and the next day there was a green skim layer at one end with patches of blue algae. The pond has become very cloudy but according to published reports, you shouldn't treat the ponds as it will cause the algae to release the toxins. Still have one pond to train on that isn't affected.
